How do I book?

A. Complete our Booking Form. If we can accept your child we will send you full pre-course information (clothes list, airport procedures, school rules, etc) and request your deposit payment (500 GBP) to secure the place. The balance of fees is then payable 8 weeks before your child attends the course.

When do I need to book?

A. Because it is a small course and one of only a few in England that offers courses specifically tailored for 7 – 12 year olds we anticipate booking up very quickly. We also try to have no more than 10 children who speak the same language on each course as this provides much greater opportunity for speaking English. As such you will need to book as soon as possible to guarantee a place for summer 2012. If you need a visa this can take longer than expected so please allow plenty of time.The full balance does not need to be paid until 8 weeks before the course begins.

What if my child gets homesick?

A. Not many children get homesick and if they do it usually disappears after a few days. However we have a dedicated and caring team of staff who are on hand 24 hours a day to help your child if they feel homesick and we find that children who overcome homesickness often benefit by becoming much more self-confident and independent. We ensure your child is able to contact you via skype, email or telephone call whenever they need to but because the course is packed full of lessons and activities, many children don’t find the time to get homesick at all!

How will my child get there?

A. You can bring your child personally to the school or we can provide free airport transfers from selected local airports on the first and last day of each course. Where possible we put parents from the same country in contact with each other so that students can arrange to travel together.

Is it worth it?

A. If you want your child to improve their English in a fun and friendly environment, make lots of new friends, visit different English landmarks and cities, explore British culture and experience the British education system then it is certainly worth the money!

What does the cost include?

A. Just about everything except pocket money, optional additional sports lessons and the cost of air fares.

How much does it cost?

A. Courses cost £840 Pounds Sterling (see currency converter) per week however we do offer a discount for siblings attending the course together, please contact us for further information.

Can parents learn English too?

A. Unfortunately our expertise lies with teaching English to young children and so we cannot offer this service at the school, however we can advise you of local language schools that you could possibly attend whilst your child is at Acorn International.

Can I stay near my child?

A. It will not be possible for you to stay in the school accommodation with your child; but there are many different options available for accommodation near to the school. However, through our experience we have found that some children do not integrate fully in to the summer school whilst their parents are nearby or visiting them often and as such we suggest that parents may enjoy the opportunity to travel around England and see key landmarks and cities while their child is at Summer School. Please contact us for a list of hotels near to the school or for a list of suggested places to visit around England.
